our team, our connections

The Connetion

This is the Connecting the growing brain network of specialised clinicians and researchers. People and labs around the world with the aim to understand the developing brain through synaptic communication.

FSJD

Synapto-Metabolism Laboratory

Fundació Sant Joan de Déu | Synaptic and Metabolism Neuropediatrics. Our research group is interested in the study of synaptic transmission mechanisms in child neurology. We are especially focused on neurometabolic diseases and rare neurogenetic conditions.

UB

Inside The Brain

Univesitat de Barcelona | Neurodevelopmental MRI research. Our focus of interest is centered in understanding cerebral development. We use a multidisciplinary approach, by combining medical, neuropsychological and magnetic resonance imaging data.

IBECNanoprobes and nanoswitches

Institut of Bioengineering of Catalonia | Biochemical and Cellular Biophysics. The group’s research focuses on developing nanoscale tools to study biological systems. These tools include instrumentation based on proximity probes, such as electrochemical tunnelling microscopy and spectroscopy, that we apply to investigate electron transfer in metal oxides and individual redox proteins. These studies are relevant to the development of biosensors and molecular electronics devices. . Logo_IIB_Sant_Pau

Molecular Physiology of the Synapse

Biomedical Research Institute Sant Pau | Synapsis, Physiology and Mental Disabilities. We are interested in understanding the molecular biology of the synapse and how this relates to higher brain functions such as cognition, memory and learning. We are also interested in how disruptions of normal synaptic molecular physiology results in Mental and Behavioural Disorders, such as Intellectual Disabilities or Autism Spectrum Disorders. Our research takes advantage of Systems Biology approaches to study the synapse as a whole.

MintLabs3D maps of the patient’s brain

Mint Labs | Remote advanced medical image analysis and visualization platform. We help doctors provide a better diagnostic and treatment for patients with brain diseases. Our advanced technology and flexible business process allows to deliver our clients accuracy in the most efficient and cost-effective way.

NDlab

animal models and neurogenesis

Universitat de Barcelona | Neural Development Group. Study of genes regulated by BDNF and involved in neurogenesis, growing, migration, differentiation and synaptogenesis in the brain. In vivo and in vitro models to study these genes during normal development and in neurodevelopmental disorders such as epileptic encephalopathies and early acquired neuronal injury. Study of neurovascular niche regulation in the brain and development of biomaterials to promote neuroregeneration. disease mechanisms

University of Lisbon Medical School | Instituto de Medicina Molecular. We are a non-profit private research institute and our mission is to foster basic, clinical and translational biomedical research with the aim of contributing to a better understanding of disease mechanisms, developing novel predictive tests, diagnostics and therapeutic approaches.

Bergen Universitybiorecognition

Bergen University | Biorecognition.  The research group Biorecognition investigates the molecular mechanisms behind biomolecular binding and functional response in metabolic and signal transduction pathways. We aim to investigate novel therapeutic approaches for correction of associated metabolic and neurological malfunctions.

Xarxa TeclaPaediatric Neurology

Neuropaediatric clinc | Hospital Sant Pau i Santa Tecla. Our aim is to provide high quality and personalized medical care to offer our patients the control of their own health.  We serve our community in Tarragona, Spain.
